Beverly Muldrow | For Judge of The Court of Common Pleas

About Beverly

Since her humble beginnings, Beverly Muldrow has worked toward affecting positive change in her community. A 35-year professional career marked by hard work, passion and determination is a testament to her goal. Serving as an attorney in various aspects of the law such as dependent, delinquent and adult criminal matters, Muldrow has used her work to help impact the lives of others.

In her career, Muldrow has served as Environmental Counsel and Head of the Minority Outreach Taskforce for Waste Management, Inc., a subsidiary of WMX Technologies, Inc.  In this capacity, she advised the company’s operations on issues related to the lawful disposal of waste, clean air and clean water.  Her role on the Minority Outreach Taskforce for Mid-Atlantic Group Office was to help increase minority employment and minority contracts. In addition, the taskforce worked to improve relationships with local communities, government and media.

Prior to her work with Waste Management, Inc., Muldrow was a Senior Assistant Regional Counsel at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  She was responsible for the enforcement actions in accordance with the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Clean Air Act, the Comprehensive Environmental Response and Compensation and Liability Act. During her time with the EPA, Muldrow also worked as an instructor in the Trial Advocacy Institution and a facilitator in the Negotiation Course.

Muldrow’s entrance into the field of law can be accredited to her education. Marked as intellectual child at a very young age, Muldrow was continuously encouraged to pursue a college degree. As a teenager, she began learning of the many African-Americans who made significant contribution to our society. This encouraged her to explore the contributions she could make. Initially advised to become an educator, Muldrow felt she could be most effective by entering into law.

After receiving her B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College and J.D. from Ohio State University College of Law, Muldrow began her career in a State Attorney General Office in 1974. She later went on to work as Associate Counsel at the Temple University Legal Aid Office where she supervised law students in a variety of civil matters. Three years later, Muldrow moved to the Philadelphia District Attorneys Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, she prosecuted a wide range of major felony cases, including child abuse crimes. After a successful decade in the District Attorneys Office, Muldrow decided to refocus her work and entered into environmental law.

In addition to Muldrow’s professional achievements, this mother of one has
remained active in civic and professional organizations in her community. This includes work with the NAACP, Congressional Black Caucus, Philadelphia Barristers, the National Bar Association Woman Lawyers Division and the Federal Bar Association.

Muldrow continues to strive to be an asset to her community through her work. If elected as Judge, Muldrow will use her work, passion and determination to positively affect the Philadelphia justice system.
